7B - a breakthrough?

Just had the lesson with 7B which was observed by Alan Howe, and still trying to come to terms with a new side of the students I have not seen before. For the first time, the students were wanting to answer questions instead of waiting to be picked. They were also listening to each other and were starting to ask questions.

This is not something I have seen in many classes, let alone with a Year 7 class. They knew enough about the topic to ask me questions and it seems what they have done in humanities is working - the knew so much about renewable energy before we even taught it!

By today's lesson the groundwork for the constructive controversy debates have been put in place, but it is obvious that the topic needs to be introduced a bit more robustly.

7B shocked me, and reminded me of why I went into teaching. A positive outcome already, and we're not even talking about the students!
